Ken Griffey Sr. & Ken Griffey Jr. There have been a lot of father-son combinations in Major League Baseball but only Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Jr. played in the major leagues at the same time, and on the same team with the Cincinnati Reds. This duo is also the only father son team to hit back to back home runs in a game. Bobby Hull & Brett Hull The “Golden Jet” and the “Golden Brett” are ahead of the pack when it comes to great father-son duos. Athletes and Their Family Time

Everyone in the world today has their struggles with the delicate balance between their families and work. It is much more difficult for the life of a professional athlete. It is hard enough for someone with just a 9-5 job for 40 hours a week, much less professional athletes that is away from their families and homes more than ten hours a day and are on the road half of the time as well. Although, it still doesn’t compare with families whose spouses and parents are away serving their duty. It makes it even more difficult when the team that the player works for expects...

Chris & Stefanie Spielman: A True Love Story

We hear all of the stories about Tiger Woods, Shaquille O’Neal, and the many other athletes who have committed adultery, while married. Why do the true love stories receive such lackluster attention? After hearing so many negative reports I wanted to share something about true love. Chris and Stefanie Spielman were high school sweethearts. They dated while students at Ohio State University. Stefanie pursued a degree in journalism and Chris went on to play in the National Football League. In 1989, they married and began to raise their family. In 1998, while three months...

Do you think balloon boy’s parent deserve jail time?

I don’t understand why we call him Balloon Boy, he was never in the balloon. Larimer County Judge Stephen Schapanski sentenced Richard Heene to 90 days in jail, including 60 days of work release, so he can continue his job as a construction contractor while serving his time. His wife, Mayumi, was sentenced to 20 days in jail. Mayumi Heene won’t begin her sentence until her husband finishes his jail time, so someone can be home with their children. She also was given four years of supervised probation and must do 120 hours of public service. Both parents...

Are you ready for Sex in the City 2?

The release date of “Sex In The City 2: The Movie” is May 28, 2010, almost 5 months away.  As we all know, May will be here before you know it. I am not too sure what happens in “Sex In The City 2: The Movie” but it appears the ladies of NYC will escape to Morocco, fashionably, of course. Here are some of the scene spoilers that were let out of the bag: There may be a gay wedding union between Stanford and Anthony Marentino. Samantha may rekindle her relationship with Jerrod, the hunk who was at her side when she won the fight against breast...

Was it premature for President Barack Obama to grade himself just yet?

President Barack Obama has been in office for less than a year. He has inherited a tumultuous war, high unemployment rates, a crumbled financial economy; the list continues. Perhaps he hasn’t reduced the unemployment rate,  just yet; but he is working on assisting people by: increasing food stamp benefits by 13.6%, extending unemployment benefits from December 31, 2009 until March 31, 2011 Creating a new program called Temporary Child Care Assistance (TCCA). The program, which ends in September 2010, will provide time-limited assistance with child care costs for families...

How do I raise my child to become financially smart?

“I am a Buy and Hold type of guy.” This statement is straight out of the mouth of Damon Williams, a 14 year old whose liquid value is worth $50,000. His mother is a great inspiration to him. She taught her son a valuable lesson; “Don’t work for money, let money work for you. “ This is the lesson that many adults will never learn in their lifetime. As parents, we need to get on the band wagon. We want our children to achieve a prosperous life. It’s imperative for us to learn more about investing our money and teach our kids to do the same at an early age. This...

The presence of a black male is not missed in Disney’s Princess

”The Princess and the frog”, Disney’s first princess of color was a great joy to watch. All of the controversy surrounding the movie about the love interest not being black was just an overreaction. Believe me; the presence of a black male is not missed as Princess Tiana’s black father, the voice of Terrance Howard, is a great influence and presence in this film. The entire audience gave it a standing ovation at the end of the film because it’s the most genuine Disney film to date made with so much love and such great detail. A range of mixed emotions were...
