Soon to be former Mayor Shirley Franklin of Atlanta shows off her Philly roots. In the beginning she was open to answer any questions. This wasn’t the case during her final press conference. It seems as if really irritated and was just ready to leave or knock someone out.
Some of Franklin’s insightful comments.
FRANKLIN: “I don’t have to make a judgment about how well I’ve done. I don’t have to do that and refuse to!”
A reporter asked Franklin to grade herself:
FRANKLIN: “The record speaks for itself. It’s either good bad or indifferent. It can be changed. Somebody else will do it.”
Franklin says everyone, including reporters, can make up their own minds about her legacy.
Franklin will become a teacher at Spellman College. She’ll teach topics such as women in politics and sociology.
FRANKLIN: “What do you want? You get the real deal! Here I am! I tell you what’s on my mind and that’s it! Just relax! You’ll have new fresh meat soon.”
I don’t know if I should laugh and shake my head.
Do you think she made a graceful exit? Does she leave the impression that she doesn’t care one way or another about public opinion?
