That’s the question a married person should ask themselves before indulging themselves in a fling. They need to take some notes from a couple of these case studies.
Steve Philips
Steve Philips, 46, a father of four was fired as an ESPN analyst from having an affair with 22 year old Brooke Hundley an ESPN production assistant. The 22-year-old Hundley stalked Phillips’ son on Face book and harassed his wife with calls and a tasteless letter. His wife, Marni Phillips filed for divorce Sept. 14. Philips lost his job and family over his affair this year.
Jamie McCourt
Jamie McCourt was fired from her job last week as being co-owner of Los Angeles Dodgers because of her infidelities. Dodger’s attorneys says that Jamie McCourt took a trip with her bodyguard, Jeff Fuller, in early July to Israel on business, but then headed to France for 2½ weeks and billed the Dodgers for the trip.
The couple entered into a marital agreement in March 2004 that gave Frank McCourt, her husband ownership of the Dodgers. That decision was made by Jamie McCourt to protect her from any debts or creditor’s claims that might result from purchasing the Dodgers,
The team was losing more than $75 million a year when Frank McCourt purchased the team, and Jamie McCourt, who is an attorney, wanted to protect her real estate and other investments.
Frank McCourt wrote that he allowed his wife to identify herself as “co-owner” for the “interests of family harmony”. She lost her ownership of a sports team over her affair. In addition, Frank McCourt filed for divorce last week.
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods announced that he is taking is an indefinite break from playing golf and trying to work on a marriage that will probably never base on love and trust.
One of his sponsors, Gillette, said it won’t feature Woods in its marketing campaign while Woods takes time off to mend his personal life.
“This is supporting his desire to step out of the public eye and we’re going to support him by helping him to take a lower profile,” Gillette spokesman Damon Jones said
The PGA Tour has 33 tournaments scheduled for network television in 2010. When Woods was out with his knee injury, ratings plunged 50 percent. We still have yet to see how this will damage Woods. His reputation as being a squeaky clean gentleman doesn’t exist anymore in the public eye.
Shaq O’Neal
Shaq O’Neal’s wife just filed for separation last month because of her husband’s infidelities. She is about to film a new reality show on VH1 about “Basketball Wives”. We are not as surprise about Shaq as we were Tiger Woods, but Shaq has a family too, which he traded for with all of his infidelities.
Steve McNair
Steve McNair was having an affair with Sahel Kazemi, 20, in a condo only 6 miles away from his home he share with his family and lost his life with a deadly gunshot wound. His lost his life at the age of 36 over his infidelities. How do you explain that one to the kids?
Why get married in the first place? To have the best of both worlds?
The late Wilt Chamberlain estimated in his autobiography “A View From Above” that he slept with 20,000 women, including more than a dozen in a single day. Of course, Wilt never married, maybe suggesting as that he knew he couldn’t be faithful to one woman.
